Why:

It is Easy!

Steps to recycling:

  • Rinse out plastic or metal container.
  • Put in recycling bin—(No need to separate items or put in plastic bags)
  • Take Bin to the curb

Your efforts make a difference!

  • Recycling helps preserve our Natural Resources, for the future generations.
  • Instead of filling up the landfills with plastic and aluminum, the same material can be used to make more plastic and aluminum products, same situation with cardboard and newspaper.
  • All of the papers we throw away each week can be used to make paper for another publication date.
  • Recycling provides jobs. Recycling needs people to collect, sort, process, compost and prepare materials. Implementing a recycling program provides opportunities for economic development opportunities in our community.

It is important!

Facts about recycling:

  • An aluminum can that is thrown away will be an aluminum can in 500 years.
  • There is no limit to the number of times alumninum can be recycled.
  • To produce each weeks Sunday edition newspapers, 500,000 trees must be cut down.
  • If every American recycled just one-tenth of their newspapers, we would save about 25 million trees a year.
  • Americans use two and a half million plastic bottles every hour! Most of them are thrown away.
  • Americans throw away 25 billion Styrofoam coffee cups every year.
